We at Bird Vet Melbourne encourage all owner to have their birds microchipped (Microchipping) to facilitate identification and recovery if they are ever lost or stolen. Newer ‘mini-microchips’, that are about half the size of conventional microchips but still contain the same information, have become available and are excellent for birds. With birds less than 1 kg we recommend the microchip be placed while the bird is under a brief gaseous anaesthetic. which can be done during a consult while you wait. Please ask a staff member if you would like to have your bird micro-chipped.
