Meet the Bird Vet Melbourne Team
Our Staff...
Led by our amazing Vet Director, Avian Vet Dr. Phil Sacks, this team's passion for bird health is unparalleled. When it comes to birds, it is essential you come to a "bird-vet" team strongly experienced with avian medicine.
At Bird Vet Melbourne, you have the option of seeing one of several veterinarians experienced in bird health and care.
We also offer parrot behaviour and training consultations in clinic with experienced bird behaviourists, including Mel Vincent. These sessions are designed to help with a wide range of bird behaviour questions, including handling, training, bonding, enrichment, unwanted behaviours and general parrot care.
Our avian veterinary nursing team is highly experienced in bird care and plays a vital role in keeping our patients safe and comfortable.
Unlike some clinics where the term “nurse” may be used broadly, our nurses are qualified and certified veterinary nurses. They are skilled in avian handling, hospital care, anaesthetic monitoring, recovery support and routine procedures.
From complex anaesthetic cases through to simple nail trims, your bird is cared for by a talented team with a strong focus on safety, gentle handling and attention to detail.
We also regularly welcome veterinary nursing students into the clinic as part of their training and development.
Our students are selected through a careful interview process and are fully supervised by qualified veterinary staff while they learn. This allows them to gain valuable hands-on experience in a structured, supportive environment while maintaining a high standard of patient care.
Supporting students is an important part of developing the next generation of skilled veterinary nurses and strengthening the future of avian veterinary care.
We provide the best Bird-Vet care available to Bird pets. Pet-Birds often don't receive experienced Avian-Veterinary care! We see many birds like Chickens, Ducks and Parrots and focus on the unique Avian-Vet needs of the numerous birds and chickens presented to the bird-clinic in Burwood daily.

Tickles and Evil Tickles. (Bird Clinic Quakers.)
These guys rule the avain clinic. If you call and can't hear us over the angry Quaker screams, someone probably just touched their moon shaped mirror.
If you haven't met them yet - you want to. Yell Peekaboo - they'll yell it back.
Their job description includes: yelling at telemarketers when they're dumb enough to ring the Bird-clinic, throwing things at the Bird-vet staff and walls and of course greeting and sorting out our Bird clients.
They bring an amazing amount of comfort to those who have received bad news.
Their special skills include pooping on people on command. So don't mess with us, we've got feathered weapons.
